TV B Gone!

Friday, September 7th, 2007

Have you ever been at a bar and wanted to just turn off the bright annoying TV in the corner? Well, now you can. With the click of an inconspicuous key chain button, you can turn off any TV…ANYWHERE!

I got my “TV B Gone” key chain as a gag gift and didn’t think too much about it. But, after a couple beers, I decided to nonchalantly turn off a soccer game that nobody was watching, well aside one guy. Unbelievably, the damn thing worked. All of a sudden the bar tender was cursing and scrambling to figure out what went wrong with the gorgeous HDTV.

Now, surely, this is wrong to do in a public place…and you might get your ass kicked if caught, so be warned — this is a dangerous piece of technology. And it’s only $11.95! Check it out at their site: TVBEGONE.com According to their web site, this does not cause any damage to televisions. I’ve tested it out on my own and it’s still working fine.

Classic Kalas

Here is my buddy, Brad, doing one of his improvised impersonations of Harry Kalas. This is a classic "boombox" recording from around 1995. Harry Kalas

Molkky

Monday, August 20th, 2007

This past weekend, I was introduced to a Finnish-based lawn game called Molkky. If you have no athletic prowess at all, but have quality hand-eye coordination (and you like to throw what looks large IKEA wooden pegs), then this game is for you. It’s the perfect game for a party because it works great with socializing, eating, and drinking, and you may even get better after a couple of beers. You do need some space, so a suburban yard works best. Although, you could probably play it in a street. Learn more about Molkky. Note: There is indeed an umlaut over the letter "o" in Molkky, but it’s not working with Blogger today for some reason.

Caruso on CSI Miami

Saturday, January 27th, 2007

While listening to the radio on my commute to work, Opie and Anthony have introduced me to actor David Caruso’s awful acting…Or is it just bad writing? This clip of his one liners is great tribue.

Quidam

Sunday, July 16th, 2006

We were running late to see Cirque Du Soleil’s “Quidam”, which was performing at Broad and Washington on the Avenue of the Arts. I had seen “Allegria” back in 2004 and enjoyed it immensely. We were starving and didn’t have time to eat dinner, so we pigged out on those imitation Philly Soft Pretzels. You know, these aren’t the real deal ones. These are the kind that they serve in movie theatres and have chunks of salt the size of the ones PennDot uses to clear up the PA Turnpike in January…We also munched on some buttered popcorn and a bag of strawberry Twizzlers (to get a fruit-based food group involved)…

Anyway, it was a great show, and it made me realize how uptight and unhealthy my body is…I mean, I struggle with yoga positions that I’ve been doing for four years! Regardless, check out one of these shows sometimes. And if you’re a man that thinks it’s lame because it’s Canadian = French, and that it’s wussy, then I’ll tap your shoulder next time you’re gawking at the Mummer’s Parade, watching the pretty sparkling colors they wear.

Mannequin

Thursday, April 20th, 2006

If you think “Rocky” was a great movie shot in Philly, then you haven’t seen nothing! Check out 1987’s “Mannequin” for Philly department store madness. It will leave you counting your blessings and making you realize how great it is to be alive.
Learn more about “Mannequin”.
After spending hours at a Strawbridge’s clearance sale in Springfield, PA, I truly didn’t feel any sparks. But, alas, after 5 hours at the 700 Club in Northern Liberties, I gladly awoke the next day to make blueberry pancakes for my new styrofoam friend.
