Vimeo

Monday, July 9th, 2007

Testing out an alternative to YouTube and MySpaceTV for video hosting. Below is a song performed by Gemini Wolf at Johnny Brenda’s on 6/25/07. This happened to be the first time I used my new Canon HV20, and the footage turned out to be quite impressive.

Although, the butchering after video hosts encode it leave it looking as if it was shot under water. Of course, these dark venues don’t make it easier on things!

Speakerphone

Sunday, October 1st, 2006

I recently finished a video project called "Speakerphone". I hadn’t had a land line in over 5 years, and I decided to set it up one day. Melissa’s cell phone doesn’t always work well in the house, so we had a reason to go out and buy a new phone for the landline. Instantly, we started getting up to 3 telemarketing calls a day, probably due to the fact that I’m not on the "Do Not Call List". But, I decided to have fun with it, as you’ll see in these videos. (This was originally intended to be shown at the Virginville Film Festival, but iDVD HD is just not working worth a damn! Sure, I just proclaimed how great iTunes 7 was, and now I’m bitching about iDVD HD…Ughhh…Anyone else have problems with this application? It stops at the "encoding audio" process.) Wawa

Sunday, September 10th, 2006

I’ve been working on a new video project which should be completed by the end of the month. Here’s a classic called "Wawa" from sometime in the late 90s. Starring Brad Lord Pesin as himself.

Ride The Ducks

Thursday, July 6th, 2006

I’ve seen them puttering by me for years now…The kids quacking at me…The “Eye Of The Tiger” pulsating while I read at Washington Square…The captain that yelled “Hello, Dude!” to me once while I ate outside at The Race Street Cafe…

Now, it was my turn to see Philadelphia in a new light!

Posing as tourists from Cincinatti, Melissa and I boarded one of the “Ride The Duck” tourist boats during the height of Philly tourism: July 4th weekend. I instantly felt highly embarassed as we cruised around Olde City and down to South Street, but it was definitely fun. Many people waved enthusiastically at us, as if we were aliens temporarily visiting the planet. Some people scoffed at us, probably because one of the cheesy songs being blared interrupted their vibes…

If you have A.D.D., this tour is just what you need. The captain / driver changes the songs being blasted constantly, while adding goofy sound effects here and there, all the while spurting out tid bit facts about where James Madison met his wife.

One thing I learned is that Larry Fine of “The Three Stooges” was born at 3rd & South, and that is why his mural is there. Duh, I thought. I’m an idiot…

But for most Philly peeps, most of the tour is common knowledge. When the captain insisted that most Philly residents have no clue that Washington Square is a mass burial ground, I wanted to throw my yellow plastic quacker at him, but maybe he’s right.

The dip into the Delaware River was interesting the best part. I always wanted to see this “boat truck” thing do it’s magic, but it was very short lived.

Next time you want to kill an hour for $20, it’s definitely an experience, but I’d have a drink or two first.

Cancun Video 1

Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

Here’s a Quicktime video of Melissa and I goofin’ off in Cancun. The iMovie export settings that I used on this file produced much better results than the previous Quicktime quickies…Indulge…

Ween Video Clip

Monday, June 19th, 2006

The first time that I saw Ween perform live was when I was 18. It was at the Trocadero with Rich, and “Chocolate and Cheese” had just been released. Since then, I’ve probably seen them about 10 times or more. Here’s a goofy clip taken from the show during “Jam On The River” on Memorial Day Weekend.

Fear Of Wind

Tuesday, May 9th, 2006

One rainy Sunday, I had brunch at North Third (or N3rd for all of you purists), with Melissa and Rich. After some peach tinged mimosas, we ended up escaping the rain at the Franklin Institute and watched an IMAX movie about Ancient Greece. But the highlight of the afternoon, luckily, was captured on video by Melissa.

Oak Floor Jazz & Mike Murray at Art@Sophi

Thursday, April 20th, 2006

Check out Oak Floor Jazz, a hot young Philly jazz-rock outfit, that performed at Factory 1241 at this past April’s Art@Sophi event. They also added soundscapes to Mike Murray’s improv freestyle painting of “A Tree?!”. See Mike in-aciton as the silhouette behind the cloth canvas.
