earSnake Flier for National Mechanics show

A slew of earSnake recording artists will be performing at Old City’s National Mechanics on December 22nd. Come on out and support some great local music. I’ll be adding some ambient soundscapes in between sets. I haven’t been to this venue yet, but it looks huge and they have a great web site, and I judge places based on how nice their web site is…well, sometimes. Anyway, come on out! I’ll buy you a beer. ;)

Review Of First Berries…

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

I often have a difficult time explaining what my music sounds like. But Sonic Curiosity, headed by Matt Howarth, really spelled it out beyond my expectations (and what I even knew it sounded like).

Sonic Curiosity, which reviews indie electronic albums, recently reviewed my album First Berries After Hibernation, released by earSnake this past summer. Check out the review!

Ghost Tours of Philadelphia

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

My song "First Berries After Hibernation" is used as the eerie soundtrack for a Ghost Tours of Philadelphia commercial. Check out the video above to watch it.

This definitely cracks me up a bit, as my music has always been classified as eerie or "scary", as my Mom likes to call it.

This all reminds me of the upcoming Halloween season, and how lame Halloween is in the city, for the kids trick or treating and trying to scare the crap out of them. Having been raised in Montgomery County, I must say that there is no scarier place for Halloween than a suburb of massive trees and a haunted house that you have to walk through in order to score some Snicker’s Bar loot. In Fishtown, the kids hardly even dress up.

First Berries After Hibernation

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Today, I am psyched to introduce my new CD of instrumentals entitled First Berries After Hibernation. This album of 12 tracks was recorded at my Fishtown home and released by Philly indie label earSnake.

First Berries After Hibernation album cover

Above is the album cover, which features a photo taken by Melissa while we were walking aimlessly one autumn day in New Hope, PA. I love the gleeful smile of the girl with a piece of plastic attacking her face, while a tortured bald mannequin stands scarred on the left and another looks off to the right, meanwhile a stern Statue of Liberty stands in the distance.

With awful luck in bands, my home recordings have become my main steady artistic outlet, and I’m glad that the newly developed earSnake was willing to take it under their wing. Check it out at the earSnake site!

New Holiday Song

Sunday, December 2nd, 2007

I haven’t recorded any new instrumentals or songs since February of earlier this year. Last night I recorded a new diddy called "Melting of The Evil Snowman", using the newly revamped GarageBand 4 (which is a HUGE improvement from the previous version). This is one of those "made on the spot" songs that I enjoy doing, giving myself a time limit to write and finish it, making it a fun challenge. Enjoy! Melting Of The Evil Snowman
