Phillies Phishtown Celebration

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

On October 29th, 2008, I watched the Phillies win the World Series at Johnny Brendas in Fishtown. Below is some footage shot moments after the victory, when the tightly packed bar exploded with energy and everyone ran outside to make some noise. This was a great celebration in Fishtown with loads of fireworks, honking horns, non-stop high-fives,and just pure hilarity.

Phillies Championship Parade

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

Here’s some footage of the Philadelphia Phillies Championship Parade on Broad Street. It was a beautiful day out, blue skies, mid-60s, and loads of fans everywhere. We started at 15th & Market Streets, which was an absolute nightmare. Descending down to Broad & Washington Streets made for a better view and a more fun crowd as well.

YouTube or Vimeo…Which one looks better?!

Google Maps Street View: Philly

Friday, October 12th, 2007

I’m not sure how long Philadelphia has been added to Google Maps new "Street View" functionality, but it’s worth passing on how amazing it is. As you click on the arrows and move from block-to-block, you’re really walking through a city-wide-snap-shot. So, if you happened to be picking your nose as you were coming out of your apartment the day that Google Maps drove by, then you will be there for all to see, frozen in time! If none of this makes any sense to you, here is a Street View of Standard Tap at 2nd & Poplar in Northern Liberties.

Buffalo Billiards

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

I suck at billiards, but then again, I never have given it a shot for more than an hour. But Buffalo Billiards hardly seems about billiards on a Sunday. Last year, I heard about Buffalo Billiards from my buddy Matt who went there to watch his Bears games. If you’re not an Eagles fan and are looking for a bar to watch your team’s game, this is the place. Every time that I’ve gone, there’s always various jerseys being worn by Philadelphians looking to watch the Colts, Bills, Giants — you name it…Although, I’ve yet to see Cowboys fans grace the arena. (If you don’t see your team’s game on any of the tubes, just ask one of the friendly staff.) Of course, the Eagles game is always projected on the main two screens, with the volume pumped up nice and loud. Today was especially brutal, as the Eagles, in their retro yellow & blue uniforms, beat the Lions by a large margin. But the Phillies lost to the Washington Nationals. My neck is still sore from turning my head back and forth to watch both screens as the games played live simultaneously. The bar food gets about a B- grade. It’s massive, it will fill you up, but some of the options are just awful. The calamari arrives as perfectly fried circles, resembling onion rings more than calamari, and tasting only somewhat fishy…Was that really calamari? Who knows, but fried food with beer and the Eagles is always a winner.
